EMILY KOEPP
Hi everyone! My name is Emily Koepp, and I’m a senior at Columbia College studying Statistics and Political Science. I’m thrilled to serve as the President of CWBS this year, and I am so excited to share many amazing opportunities with the CWBS community!
I joined the CWBS Conference Committee as a sophomore, unsure of exactly what I wanted to pursue in my career. While I started college on the pre-law track, I quickly realized that was not the path for me. I felt like I was behind and unprepared for business recruiting, especially as an FGLI student, but the CWBS mentorship program, professional development opportunities, and community overall helped me quickly get up to speed and connected me to new opportunities.
The CWBS Consulting 101 panel helped me realize I wanted to pursue strategy and consulting, but had no idea where to start. With the support of my CWBS mentors and fellow CWBS CMs, I began to prepare for case interviews and secured my first internship at Mastercard in strategy. After two amazing summers, I’ll be returning to Mastercard next fall as an Associate Consultant.
From a total career pivot sophomore year, to landing my first full-time job, my biggest advice for underclassmen interested in business would be to cultivate true connections and rely on your network. The CWBS community played a crucial role in helping me grow professionally, giving me the confidence to trust myself and take risks when I felt uncertain. As I step into this new role, I’m excited to build the same community for others—and to show that no matter where you are in your journey, your community is one of your biggest assets.
